KILLER BEES FALL TO LAREDO BUCKS 3-2 ON SATURDAY
LAREDO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (17-16-5) fell at the hands of the Laredo Bucks (16-22-0) on Saturday afternoon by a 3-2 final. Three straight Laredo goals bookended the Bees two tallies. Dan Gendur and Tomas Klempa scored the two power-play goals.
The Killer Bees took a 1-0 lead at the 7:19 mark of the first period as Dan Gendur scored his third goal in his last two games while on the power-play. Craig Lineker fed the buck to Gendur who was waiting on the back door. It was the 10th goal of the season for Gendur.
Laredo tied the game at 1-1 at the 11:11 mark of the first period as Matt Pierce deflected an Erik Boisvert pass along the back post. Neill Trimm picked up the secondary assist on the goal.
The two teams headed to the locker room tied at one after one period.
Laredo continued to pressure the Bees and added a quick pair of goals in the second period as David Inman continued to cause problems for the Killer Bees and Rusty Masters continued his strong season with a goal. The goals came at 11:09 and 13:34 of the second.
After forty minutes of hockey the Bees trailed Laredo 3-1.
Tomas Klempa brought the Bees within one goal at the 7:45 mark of the third period as he one-timed a Dan Gendur pass to the back of the net. Klempa has now recorded a point in 13 straight games for the Killer Bees.
The rest of the third period would be spent trying to find the equalizer but the Bees were unable to do so as Laredo held on to the one-goal win.
