BEES SIGN KEY COMPONENTS IN EDINGER AND VAN HOOF
Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central
Hockey League today announced the signings of center Adam Edinger
and defenseman Jeremy Van Hoof. Head Coach Paul Fixter calls the
pair “key components” to the success of this year’s team. Edinger
and Van Hoof have a combined 804 regular season games between.
“Both Adam and Jeremy will be integral parts of this year’s club and
will log a considerable amount of ice time in all situations,”
explained Fixter. “Both players will bring experience and leadership
to the team. I’m very familiar with them from my own experience and
they come highly recommended from mentors of mine.”
Edinger, 30, split last season between Long Beach and Wheeling (ECHL).
Entering his seventh pro season, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Toledo
native has scored 20 or more goals four times. His best offensive
season came in the 2005-06 campaign with Motor City (UHL) when he
scored 51 goals and added 26 assists for 77 points. He bagged 19 of
those goals while on the power play, placing him third overall in
both UHL goals and power play goals. Prior to his pro career, he
played four seasons of college hockey at Bowling Green University
from 1996-2000.
Van Hoof, 26, played in Italy last season for Fassa HC where he
totaled nine points (4-5-9) in 32 games. Also entering his seventh
pro season, the bulk of the 6-foot-2, 190-pound, Lindsay, Ontario
native’s experience has been in the ECHL. He spent the majority of
the 2001-02/2003-04 seasons with the Pensacola Ice Pilots while
receiving brief call-ups to AHL Hershey and Springfield. His best
offensive season came with the Dayton Bombers in 2005-06 when he put
up 21 points (5-16-21) and 82 PIM in 66 games.
Van Hoof played three seasons of junior hockey for the Ontario
Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s. In 2001, he helped the team to an OHL
championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup Tournament.
Killer Bees training camp begins at 10.a.m. this Monday at Dodge
Arena. The team will host one preseason game (Monday, October 15)
before opening the regular season on Friday, October 19 vs. Corpus
